Competition Obedience
Competition Obedience is a great way to demonstrate all of the hours of training that you have done with your dog. Obedience is a great way to establish good communication skills between you and your dog, and expand on your training and is ideal for graduates of Family Dog II. Obedience is one of the AKC’s oldest sporting events. Obedience trials feature dogs that are well-behaved at home, in public places, and in the presence of other dogs. It is essential that the obedience dog demonstrates willingness and enjoyment while it is working with the handler. Some of the exercises include heeling, sit, stay and recall in a formalized pattern in a show ring. Beginner Obedience is a great way to enter the world of dog sports. AKC is open to all breeds of dogs, and mixed breeds too. Intro to Competition Obedience will be a fun, upbeat class: Our motto is "If you and your dog are not having fun, it is not worth doing."

Competition Obedience 1
Throw away all those images you have of AKC Obedience being too strict and serious. Obedience work is ideal for developing the close bond and clear communication skills with your dog that transfer over to any dog sport where communication and control are key. All training is done with fun in mind for both trainer and your canine partner. This class is designed to hone those skills that were started in our Introduction to Obedience class, and refine them in preparation for entering an obedience trial. Learn to straighten those sits, tighten those turns, and do extensive work on that all important off leash heeling.
